Nox Oceani, between sailing and social commitment
Nox Oceani is an innovative sports project that aims to unite love for sailing, social commitment, and respect for the environment. A project that was born out of the will of a group of sea enthusiastic friends who find the right synthesis in sailing and in their attention to the principles of environmental sustainability.
Nox Oceani trains young athletes who bring the message of respect for the environment to the most important international regatta courses.
The first sustainable Optimists in Sardinia
Nox Oceani will produce in Sardinia the first eco-friendly Optimist built with recycled materials. At the end of its life, the ecological boat will overcome the problem of disposal as it is built with linen fibres and recycled materials. Therefore, once it has reached its maximum use and after having entertained the young sailors around the race courses, the ecological Optimist can be recycled, thus transformed in new objects of various kinds.
Francesca de Natale Sifola Galiani
Nox Oceani was founded in 2021 by Francesca de Natale Sifola Galiani, a wife, mother and entrepreneur with environmental sustainability and respect for nature at heart.
“Nox Oceani was born from a great passion for sailing, a sport that encompasses many teachings such as respect for the environment and discipline, values that are transmitted daily to our young athletes. Our wellbeing is directly linked to that of the environment, which is why it is very important to respect nature and find good solutions. Besides being a sport, sailing is a way to spread this message and we at Nox Oceani want to leave a tangible and concrete sign of our activity: to be the first in Sardinia to produce the eco-friendly Optimist, built with linen fibres and recycled materials. Not just any sailboat, but the first dinghy with which youngsters learn to sail, the most famous and widespread dinghy in the world. Soon we will have the first example, then we will produce in series and our young athletes will be the true testimonials of this important message.”

Sailing and sustainability
Nox Oceani wants to protect and respect the environment. Sailing does not pollute and conveys the values of protecting the oceans. Nox Oceani wants to set an example and leave a concrete and tangible sign, which is why we are building the first ecological boat in Sardinia.
Also following the same principles, we have two RS21s in our fleet, an internationally popular monotype. The RS21 class promotes the “sustainability manifesto”, the first initiative of its kind in the sailing world to affirm its commitment to environmental sustainability and the values of sport.
The “Sustainability Manifesto” (Sustainable Racing) developed around 7 key points:
- 1. respect for the sea;
- 2. use of natural elements;
- 3. sailing sport as inclusion;
- 4. promotion of sailing sport;
- 5. seafaring culture;
- 6. respecting the opponents;
- 7. choosing sustainable sponsors and partners.
A unique document that sees the entire class committed to its dissemination during the racing season and RS21 class events.
